Moon Knight: The Protector of The Travelers of The Night

“At the end of a rainbow, you’ll find a pot of gold, at the end of a river, the water stops its flow, at the end of a story, you’ll find it’s all been told.”

Earl Grant was a bad mofo — and so is whoever picks the music for Marvel’s Moon Knight, now streaming on Disney Plus.

That opening track, The End, by Grant, is about how things seem to end, but never really do. Love seems finite, but only from our narrow view. Energy can’t be destroyed or created, just changed. Altered. Transformed. And love is the ultimate energy.

Every story is about transformation. You feel like you’ve seen everything already because it’s all the same story, told with different characters and sets. No arc, no hero. So stakes, no story. No challenge, no fun.

“Sometimes we need the cold light of death before we can see reality,” Arthur says as Marc’s seemingly lifeless body floats in the water in Ammit’s ancient tomb.

That light Arthur talks about is emanating from the white asylum we saw in episode 5. It’s the famous white light people report seeing in near death experiences, or spiritual awakenings. It’s the transition period from life to death, and back again. It’s the only way to realize that there is no death — the only way to know there is nothing to fear.
