My Tapping Foot

It plays an anxious beat.

The tapping is rapid fire. Like a woodpecker in the wild. I know because I just heard one upstate last week. Tap, tap, tap, just like my foot.

I don’t know if the woodpecker is just pecking for the sake of getting through the wood, or if he’s sending a message. I should Google that…

So it turns out he’s calling prospective mates, that little devil.

Not so with my pulsating paw. It’s not looking for someone to hook up with. It’s trying to calm me down.

All my anxious energy flows to my leg, and the bouncing becomes furious. When it’s really bad, both legs will do the dance. Anyone that answered that mating call would have to be as fucked up as I am.

Then it stops suddenly. I forget it was there. My leg settles, relaxing. It feels good to stop moving so much, except for the typing fingers. Those can’t stop. Not right now. As soon as they pause, the leg starts again.

Too long of a break, and it’s wringing the hands together. Then rubbing the bouncing thighs.

They were both going for a minute there. I barely noticed at first. Pent up.

My back has been tight, so I took a few days off from the gym. I’m antsy. More antsy than usual. Too much energy.
